For many years, I tried to understand the nature of consciousness by staring into a microscope in the laboratory… continuously making my view of the world smaller. Â

It wasn’t until I started looking for the vastness—the infinite nature of reality—that I began to find the answers I sought.

This field originates from Spirit—Source, the Creator… God. Humankind has called it many names. We’ve referred to it as the Maya—the dream of reality. The problem arises when traumas and emotional wounds trap us into old roles we took on to protect ourselves from pain or harm at one point. Then we find ourselves on autopilot—completely asleep within the dream—going through the motions of behavioral patterns and thought loops that keep us stuck living out the same cycles of experience again and again.

Dr. Alberto Villoldo is a medical anthropologist with over 25 years of experience studying shamanic healing practices in the Amazon and Andes. He founded the Four Winds Society to train modern shamans in energy medicine and directs the Center for Energy Medicine in Chile, focusing on the neuroscience of enlightenment.

In his mid-20s, Villoldo became the youngest clinical professor at San Francisco State University, leading the Biological Self-Regulation Lab. There, he studied how energy medicine affects brain chemistry. However, he soon realized that traditional scientific tools, like microscopes, were inadequate for his questions. While others focused on the physical aspects of the brain, Villoldo sought to understand how to reprogram its systems.

Intrigued by stories of Amazonian healers with unique knowledge, Villoldo left academia, giving up his position and laboratory to explore these practices firsthand. Since, he and fellow Four Winds instructors have guided over 50,000 students in learning the sacred wisdom he learned.
